Itinerary
Arrival at Delhi:
Today, we start our dream trip! You’ll be meeting our representative in Delhi at the bus pickup point. We travel overnight in an AC Volvo from Delhi to Manali. Tomorrow, you’ll wake up to the fresh lush greens and mesmerizing mountains in the Land of Gods – Himachal Pradesh.
Stay in Manali
Upon arrival in Manali, check in to your hotel and gear up for exploring the beautiful city (on your own)! In the evening, our tour manager will brief you about the various safety measures, riding tips, and gear checkups. The group would have an opportunity to get acquainted with the fellow riders at dinner time. Dinner & overnight stay at the hotel.
Manali To Jispa (140kms/ 6-7 hrs)
After breakfast, we will start our Ladakh bike trip journey! We will ride across our first pass – the Rohtang Pass at 13,058ft. As we continue our journey towards Jispa. We will ride for an approximate 140 Kms via Chandra Valley before we reach our destination. Dinner & overnight stay at our campsite in Jispa.
Jispa To Sarchu (80kms/ 5-6 hrs)
Today’s ride will be a short one comprising of only 80 km. Enroute Sarchu, we will visit Suraj Tal and Deepak Tal. We will also cross the famous Baralacha Pass located at 16,616ft. which connects Lahaul district in Himachal Pradesh to Ladakh in Jammu & Kashmir. Upon arrival, we would settle down in our campsite taking in the beauty of our starting point in Ladakh and revamp for our long ride tomorrow. Dinner & overnight stay at the camp.
Sarchu To Tsomoriri (220kms/ 9-10 hrs)
Post breakfast Ride to Nomad valley Tsomoriri vai Tsokhar Lake – (100 km/ 4 hrs) Tso-Moriri also called Mountain Lake is situated in Changthang Plateau. It’s at an altitude of 4552 Meters and is the largest of the high altitude fresh water lakes with it boundaries entirely within India. It’s 26 kilometres long and 3-5 kilometres wide. The lake is surrounded by peaks exceeding 6000 meters in altitude. It’s fed by several mountain streams, nevertheless the view of Tso-Moriri is breath-taking and a site to behold. Several species of birds and wild life like visit this lake for example Marmots, Tibetan Ass, Great Tibetan Sheep, Bharal or Himalayan Blue Sheep, Tibetan Gazelle (Antelope), Snow Leopards and Tibetan Wolf Spend your evening watching shadows of the surrounding mountain and the varying depths of Tsomoriri lake.). Dinner & overnight stay at the campsite.
Tsomoriri To Leh (220KM/ 8-9hrs)
About 80 km from Tso Moriri is the beautiful Tso Kar lake. “Tso Kar” means “white lake” in Ladakhi language. The white colour comes from the thick layer of salt deposited along its shores. The area is a famous among wildlife lovers and bird watching enthusiasts. If you are lucky, you might spot the rare black-necked crane. Then, drive towards Leh via Taglang La (5,328m), the highest mountain pass on the Leh-Manali road. When reaching the Indus valley, head to Hemis monastery, the largest and wealthiest monastery in Ladakh. The gompa existed before the 11th century and it was re-established by the king Sengge Namgyal in the 17th century. It belongs to the Drukpa lineage. One of the temples enshrines an 8-metre-tall statue of Padmasambhava (the founder of Tibetan Buddhism). Just 20 km before reaching Leh, stop at Thiksey monastery whose spectacular architecture reminds of the Potala palace in Lhassa. This large Gelugpa gompa is home to more than 80 monks. Dinner & overnight stay at the Leh.
Leh To Pangong Tso (160kms/ 7-8 hrs)
During the sixth day of the trip, you will visit one of the most famous lakes in Leh, namely Pangong Lake. The main highlight of this lake is that the visitor can notice the color change in the lake water, during the daytime. Then, proceed your riding till you reach the checkpoint of Tangse, check-in at the resort, where you need to stay.. Dinner and overnight stay at the campsite.
Pangong Tso To Nubra Valley (200kms/ 7-8 hrs)
Post breakfast, taking the unexplored and untouched Shyok village route, we proceed towards Nubra Valley. This route is famous for its waterfalls, and the beautiful scenic view. Enroute, we will visit the Diskit Monastery and the alluring Sand Dunes (cold desert) where you can ride the famous Double humped camels. A sumptuous dinner with a chit-chat session amidst the beautiful mountains would bring an end to the day. Overnight stay at the camp.
Nubra Valley To Leh (180kms/ 6-7 hrs)
Today, we will ride past the highest accessible motorable pass in the world – Khardungla at 18,380 ft. We would witness the change of landscape as we keep proceeding on this route. Upon arrival in Leh, we settle down in our hotel. You can then explore the Local market and places. Dinner & overnight stay at hotel.
Leh To Kargil (216kms/ 7-8 hrs)
Post breakfast, we will start our ride to Kargil. We will visit Lamayuru, one of the oldest Monastery of Ladakh, on the way and enjoy the view of the Moon Landscape. Other pitstops would include a visit to the Magnetic Hill, Pathar Sahib Gurudwara, and Hall of Fame museum. We will be crossing the Photulla and Namik La as well on this route. Reach Kargil by evening. Dinner & overnight stay at hotel.
Kargil to Sonamarg (130kms/ 5-6 hrs)
After breakfast, we proceed towards Sonmarg. This stretch would be the last day of bike riding for our wonderful journey. Enroute, we will cross the famous Zojila pass, Drass village (2nd coldest inhabited place in the world), and have a magnificent view of the famous peaks of the Kargil war (Tiger, Tololing) from the Vijay war memorial Hall. We should reach Sonamarg by evening, followed by an overnight stay.
Departure:
We bid farewell to this wonderful trip and proceed towards the Srinagar airport via local shuttle cabs/bus. Time to get back to the routine with a bag full of happy memories and stories for a lifetime!
